Rain screen cladding is a modern and well-established system of constructing a decorative natural stone outer skin, a ventilated gap and a waterproofed backing wall.

The outer skin provides a rain barrier, however air and moisture is allowed to pass through the open joints, the moisture is prevented from entering the building by the waterproof backing wall, this allows the building to breathe.
